Startup
1981 – Biomedia, formerly known as Lab Essentials, first began as a trading company in the sales and distribution of biomedical equipment and laboratory equipment.
Growth
1985 – Bio-Focus Saintifik was formed to market and distribute biomedical and laboratory equipment and products in Malaysia.
Reinvestment
1994
- Our Business Units in Industrial and Life Science, namely QT Instruments and SPD Scientific were formed, respectively.
- QT Instruments provides testing equipment to the quality control/assurance industry and R&D laboratories.
- SPD Scientific was formed to market and distribute biomedical and laboratory equipment, and laboratory consumables.
1995 - Bloxwich was established to market and distribute culture media in Singapore.
1997
- With the growing demand by laboratories and hospitals, we started our pre-poured media manufacturing plant, Biomedia Laboratories in Malacca, Malaysia.
- Bloxwich became the exclusive distributor for Biomedia Laboratories and markets its BML™ pre-poured media in Singapore.
Growth
2000 – As our businesses grew, Labgistics Singapore and Labgistics Malaysia were formed to provide logistics and operational support functions to the Biomedia Group of Companies.
Reinvestment
2005
- Hemasoft Asia was established as a partnership between Hemasoft and Biomedia Group to offer laboratory software solutions for the clinical laboratories and blood banks in the Asia market.
- Siamcal Scientific was established to market and distribute testing equipment to the Thailand market.
2006
- Biomedia (Thailand), the second pre-poured media manufacturing plant was built in Bangkok, Thailand to cater to the growing market demand in Thailand.

Biomedia acquired Malaysia Chemist and rebranded it under a new brand identity, Biomedia Pharma. A new manufacturing facility has been built at Pandan Loop.
